PR Newswire

NEW BRITAIN, Conn., Oct. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Grove Hill Medical Centers, P.C. (GH) and Connecticut Multispecialty Group, P.C. (CMG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) enabling the companies to move towards a full merger of the two groups. A successful union would create the largest physician-owned, fully integrated multispecialty medical practice in central Connecticut.

The combined enterprise would have more than 250 physicians and other medical practitioners providing comprehensive care across 23 specialties. Both parties adhere to a core philosophy that the physician-patient bond is advanced through a delivery model that combines a strong primary care presence with readily accessible specialty and ancillary support services – all working together through a shared information system that supports the goal of effective patient care. Grove Hill President and CEO, Dr. Michael Genovesi, commented on what this merger might mean for patients, “For 67 years, Grove Hill has delivered coordinated care in the greater New Britain community. CMG has been at the forefront of adopting models of care that extend patient oversight into the hospital and convalescent care environments. This union of innovative equals would allow patients from a wider geographical area to benefit from our combined experiences in providing integrated care across a broader spectrum.”

CMG CEO, Dr. Jarrod Post, cites a similar post-merger vision. “CMG and Grove Hill are dedicated to providing integrated care for patients, where doctors focus on the totality of healthcare needs and hold sacred the patient-physician relationship. Both companies are physician-led, which we believe provides for the highest level of engagement among physicians and care providers. As one company, we now will have an even larger selection of services to offer our patients and will cover a wider geographic area across Connecticut.”

CMG and GH will continue normal operations over the next year as the two executive teams evaluate opportunities to improve patient access, boost quality care initiatives, and enhance operations.
