In March, a story surfaced from a Midwestern flea market in the US: the 3rd Imperial Egg was found! A scrap dealer snatched up the piece for merely $14,000 and then sold it, a Fabergé Easter egg thought to be lost in the 20th century Russian revolution, to a collector for $33 million. So when Kitco News discovered that the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) was holding a Fabergé exhibition, we needed to get a glimpse of these precious pieces of Russian history. Daniela Cambone tours the museum with MMFA’s curator Sylvain Cordier, coming up close and personal with four of the 50 Fabergé eggs ever made. She gets a chance to learn about the artifacts as well as Mr. Carl Fabergé himself, known as one of the greatest jewelers of all time. Watch now! Kitco News, September 5, 2014.
