DISH Network Introduces ESPN Fantasy Football App

Zacks

Customers of DISH Network Corp. (DISH) can now enjoy football fantasy stats on their TV screens, right in the comfort of their homes. The company will add an ESPN Fantasy Football app on DISH Hopper starting from the National Football League (NFL) inaugural weekend.

The ESPN Fantasy Football app will not only help DISH Network customers track the performance of their fantasy players but will also provide information about each team’s weekly matchup and their league positions in real time. DISH Network is the only pay-TV operator to have introduced this facility for its customers. The app will be unveiled this Friday night.

The introduction of the ESPN Fantasy Football app will not only drive TV ratings for DISH Network but will also help check the churn rate in the coming quarters.

In June, the company announced the commercial launch of the pay-TV industry’s first set-top box using wireless connectivity. Subscribers will be able to connect to DISH Network’s flagship Hopper Whole-Home HD DVR through a dedicated 802.11ac access point and watch TV shows on any device within the periphery of one’s home through a wireless Joey device. A WiFi enabled set-top box is a significant innovation in the pay-TV industry as it eliminates the need for either coaxial or Ethernet wiring within a customer’s home premises.

DISH Network currently has a Zacks Ranks #4 (Sell).
