University of Phoenix (UOP), a subsidiary of Apollo Education Group, Inc. (APOL) recently launched a Military Family Counseling Certificate program. The certificate program is being offered under The College of Social Sciences of UOP to train mental health practitioners.
The Military Family Counseling Certificate program comprises 18 credits and includes two foundational courses in family counseling and addictions. It also includes four courses on military family life, military culture, major issues and concerns of military families, and assessment of and proper interventions for working with military families.
The company is also working to develop new programs that can re-institute growth. The company plans to offer 400 new programs in 2014 in most promising areas of business, education, IT and healthcare. In fact, UOP is building professional education offerings (non-degree programs) with 45 new certificate programs in 2014.
Apollo Education has always focused on connecting students to careers of their choice by offering innovative and effective education programs that produce real results. With more military veterans returning home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, there is an increasing demand for counseling. These counseling sessions need to be specially designed to address the unique challenges that military families face. The Military Family Counseling Certificate program will prepare mental health practitioners for these unique challenges.
