The Dow Chemical Company’s (DOW) business unit Dow Microbial Control recently revealed that fresh studies have further underscored the efficiency of the Dow Advanced Oxidation System (AOS) Certified Whole Room Sanitization (WRS) technology. This technology provides microbial control for food processing and packaging environments.
The technology provides sustainable sanitization solutions and is capable of decreasing and controlling pathogens both on surface and air. This system works by creating ozone vapor on demand out of surrounding air and water, eradicating the need for shipping and storing chemicals.
The AOS Certified WRS fills the whole atmosphere with non-condensing ozone humidity that penetrates hard-to-reach areas including hidden areas of equipment, drains, vents and fabrics.
Dow Microbial Control commercialized the technology in the past one year and it has proved successful in a number of food packaging and processing environments.
The three recent studies backed by field trials have proved the efficacy of AOS Certified WRS technology in controlling harmful pathogens including Listeria, E. coli and Lactobacillus. The usage of this treatment in a smoked fish packaging facility showed significant reduction in the rates of Listeria positives on environmental surfaces. Not only this, the AOS Certified WRS system reduced Lactobacillus and E. coli growth on agar plates.
The technology limits the risks of contamination and helps food manufacturers to conform to food quality regulations. This is a powerful sanitization method, which not only eliminates the conventional cleaning practices but also requires no additional capital expense or chemical purchases. Moreover, every treatment is supervised in real time and is certified by Dow with standardized reports and data for audit purposes. Thus, the system works without harming the environment in any way.
