Kitco News speaks with Jim Wyckoff to get his take on gold’s price action during this heavy economic data week. Friday’s nonfarm payroll numbers may push the gold market says Wyckoff. “I think what we’re seeing in the gold market here is a lack of fresh bullish fundamental news to drive prices higher, to drive that safe-haven demand.” He says he was surprised that the weaker-than-expected GDP numbers did not push gold higher. “The gold market did pop a few dollars an ounce but that didn’t lasted very long, and shortly thereafter the market fell back to unchanged levels – that was surprising.” Wyckoff also comments on some of the latest headlines including the ICP study that claims China’s economy may surpass that of the US, even sooner than most expect. Tune in now to get his surprising market ratings for gold and silver. Kitco News, May 1, 2014.
