Queen City Sports & Entertainment gets green light to buy Regina Pats

New owners pledge to invest in long-term success of franchise

REGINA, April 30, 2014 /CNW/ – Queen City Sports & Entertainment Group is pleased to announce that its deal to purchase the Regina Pats was unanimously approved today by the Western Hockey League’s Board of Governors.

“We’re tremendously excited to be welcomed as the WHL’s newest owners. The WHL is the world’s premier major junior hockey league,” said Anthony Marquart on behalf of Queen City Sports & Entertainment. “We’re passionate fans of the Pats ourselves, and we believe in our players and our supporters. We’re looking forward to getting started.”

The new ownership group will be formally introduced at a news conference in Regina on May 5. The deal to purchase the team from long-time owners Russ and Diane Parker will officially close May 30.

Queen City Sports & Entertainment Group is comprised of a number of Regina business people: Anthony Marquart, Todd Lumbard, Jason Drummond, and Shaun and Gavin Semple.
