ASEI Secures New Z-Portal Contract

Zacks

Leading worldwide supplier of innovative X-ray inspection systems American Science & Engineering Inc. (ASEI) received a contract for Z portal system cargo screening inspection systems from Taiwan Aviation Police for an undisclosed amount.

The Z-Portal inspection systems are engineered to detect concealed threats and contraband such as explosives, drugs, weapons, or alcohols by scanning cars, vans, trucks, or any other cargo-laden vehicles. The devices are adept for high-traffic locations with space constraints and high-throughput requirements.

The Z-Portal system complements the Sentry Portal system installed by Taiwan Aviation Police to provide optimal detection capabilities. Sentry Portal is a high-throughput, high-penetration drive-through screening system that detects hidden threats and contraband in cargo containers, tankers and large vehicles.

The products play a vital role in protecting high-risk zones and in combating trade fraud, drug and weapon smuggling. Recently, the Taiwan Aviation Police's Gemini(R) 100100 air cargo X-ray inspection system detected 244 cartons of the anesthetic drug Ketamine. By co-locating the new Z Portal system with their existing Sentry(R) Portal, Taiwan Aviation Police will now be more efficient in such air cargo screening system in the Taiwan Airport.

American Science has experience in developing advanced X-ray security systems. These technologies offer superior X-ray threat detection for plastic explosives, plastic weapons, liquid explosives, bombs and nuclear devices.

American Science currently has a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell). Other stocks that look promising in the industry include AeroVironment, Inc. (AVAV), Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK) and Curtiss-Wright Corporation (CW), each carrying a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
