GE’s LED Lighting for Natural Grocers

Zacks

In order to reduce energy bills, GE Lighting, a part of General Electric Company (GE), recently installed its Albeo linear lighting fixtures and LED (Light Emitting Diode) high bay lights at the distribution center and new grocery stores of Natural Grocers. Food and supplement chain Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage replaced the entire lighting system at their distribution center in Golden, Colorado and various retail stores with these new LED lighting systems.

General Electric’s Albeo linear lighting fixtures and LED high bay lighting fixtures are much more competitive than conventional light sources such as metal halides which have been in use. These products offer the plug-and-play feature that eases out the electrical needs, help to reduce contractor labor costs and speed up the overall lighting system installation. The installation included the flexible Albeo ALC3-Series LED lighting fixtures which can be installed in various layouts.

The new LED lighting fixtures are innovative and redefine the art of illumination with the styling, efficiency & performance as required by the user. The high lumen output and high color rendering index (CRI) of 90+ of the energy-efficient LED lighting improve the visual appeal of the merchandise at Natural Grocers' outlets. Environmental sustainability and recycling are also major part of the food chain's philosophy. The shift to all-LED lighting in its distribution center and grocery stores is a visible approach to be environmentally sensitive.

The use of 157-watt Albeo ABHX-Series LED high bay lighting fixtures with motion controls at the distribution center will not reduce energy costs by 93% and trim maintenance costs. The new LED lighting systems are expected to reduce Natural Grocers’ overall energy consumption by over 1.7 million kilowatt hours (kWh) and energy costs by $193,000 annually.
