In addition, Qualcomm’s Gobi mobile Internet connectivity solutions provide 3G/4G LTE connectivity to devices that run on Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) developed Windows 8 software.

Qualcomm has a highly diversified product portfolio. Several original equipment manufacturers are adopting high-speed 3G and 4G technologies for connecting tablets, eReaders, machine-to-machine communication devices, and gaming devices.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform and Gobi platform for global wireless connectivity support almost all varieties of mobile broadband equipment. Qualcomm also unveiled an innovative smartwatch called “Toq”, which can simultaneously receive phone calls, send messages and play music.

In Jan 2014, Qualcomm acquired a portfolio of patents from Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ). The portfolio comprises 1,400 granted and pending patent applications from the U.S. and about 1,000 granted and pending patent applications from other countries including China, England, Germany, Japan and South Korea.
