Rogers Unveils Kids Zone

Rogers Communications Inc. (RCI), a leading Canadian telecom and cable TV operator, is offering Rogers Kids Zone for children. It is a premium children’s channel zone exclusively available to Rogers’ customers.

Rogers Kids Zone will telecast popular children’s TV shows and movies, which can be accessed easily. With the growing popularity of smartphones and tablets among kids, the demand for multiple viewing options on the rise.

Rogers Kids Zone will be available to TV viewers on Rogers On Demand Ch. 200 while for smartphones, tablets, Xbox 360 gaming systems and LG Smart TVs users it is available on the Rogers Anyplace TV app. The content will also be available online on RogersAnyplaceTV.com/KidsZone.

Rogers Kids Zone is integrated with the NextBox 3.0 technology, which facilitates the recording of up to eight HD TV shows simultaneously.

Such value-added services coupled with aggressive rollout of 4GLTE services will not only drive subscriber growth for the company but will also reduce subscriber churn in the upcoming quarters. Moreover, it will also allow Rogers to safeguard its position against other popular telecom operators in the country like TELUS Corporation (TU), BCE, Inc. (BCE) and Shaw Communications Inc. (SJR).

Recently, Rogers reported third-quarter 2013 financial results, where both its top and bottom line missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate. During the third quarter of 2013, the Postpaid retail subscribers base stood at 8.040 million, up 3.2% year over year. Likewise, Cable TV subscriber’s base stood at 3.956 million, up 4.1% year over year.
