Itron, Inc. (ITRI) declared the installation of its millionth water communication module for Yorkshire Water. Per the contract, Itron will deploy its Automated Meter Reading (AMR) services for residential and commercial customers of Yorkshire Water.
Yorkshire Water, a private water supply and treatment utility, delivers around 1.24 billion litres of drinking water each day in Yorkshire. Itron’s AMR solution, which comprises the newest generation of EverBlu module, will allow its customers to shift from remote mobile reading to fixed network reading.
The AMR solution will also increase Yorkshire Water’s operational efficiency and customer services by providing enhanced data regarding consumption, leakage and alarms supporting improved billing and query resolution. In addition, it will help utilities to remotely assess the performance of their networks and assets facilitating conservation of water resources and leakage reduction.
With this deployment, Itron has completed one million water communication modules in the UK and Ireland. Overall, Itron has deployed nearly 7 million smart water endpoints in Europe. The company celebrated the landmark by presenting Yorkshire Water with a special award.
Yorkshire Water on the other hand made the largest AMR deployment within the UK. water and wastewater industry, with around 50% customers utilizing AMR services in Yorkshire.
Itron, which belongs to the electrical equipment industry along with Agilent Technologies Inc. (A) and Ametek Inc. (AME), recently introduced a new heat cost allocation solution – EquaScan – in an attempt to deliver accurate and fair billing for the rapidly growing multifamily housing market. EquaScan will allow easier, more accurate and a secure way to measure, manage and allocate heat energy costs to consumers.
Liberty Lake, Wash.-based Itron produces electricity, gas, water, and heat meters, data collection and utility software solutions along with various associated metering products for residential, commercial and industrial, and transmission and distribution customers.
Itron currently retains a short-term Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). National Instruments Corporation (NATI) also belongs to the same industry and holds a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
