Dana Holding Corporation (DAN) announced that it will be showcasing an array of integrated drivetrain solutions and aftermarket support at Bauma Africa 2013. The drivetrain solutions include two mining and construction axles. Dana will be showcasing axles like the new Spicer Model 133 with Posi-Stop brakes and Spicer Model 162/163 axles.
The Spicer Model 133 axle will be used in load haul dumpers and other medium-sized mining utility vehicles. Posi-Stop fail-safe service brake in the axle ensures unfailing braking. In addition, the Model 133 axle offers better grip with a maximum output torque of 58,000 nM.
Model 162/163 axle provides maximum output torque of up to 53,000 nM and are used in wheeled excavators. The low-speed hub brakes in the axle eliminate the jerking effect on wheels, thus providing smooth operation. The brake also reduces parasitic power loss.
The growth in African economy is increasing the demand for better quality drivetrain products. Dana is taking this opportunity to support the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the region with its technologies.
Dana is known in Africa as Dana Spicer Clark-Hurth due to the acquisition of Clark-Hurth Components. It provides Spicer drivetrain solutions, which are high in quality and long lasting, to the local off-highway equipment manufacturers. The company and its distribution partner in Southern Africa – BAE Systems Land Systems Gear Ratio – will present the drivetrain solutions together in Bauma Africa.
Gear Ratio supplies Spicer drivetrain systems and components to OEMs for mining, construction, agriculture, material-handling, and forestry equipment. It is the sole authorized Spicer off-Highway service center in Southern Africa.
Over the last 20 years, Dana has supported major automakers with its products including axles and driveshafts. Major customers of Dana include Ford Motor Co. (F), Mazda, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. (NSANY) and Tata Motors Limited (TTM).
