Zacks

In an effort to make it simple for its customers to fix their mobile technical problems, Assurant Solutions, a unit of Assurant Inc. (AIZ) has developed an application along with Bluegrass Cellular.
The app has been named as Pocket Geek. With this program, Bluegrass customers will be able to diagnose and solve technical problems of their mobile phones.
Bluegrass customers will be able to download the app free of cost on their mobile phones. The app will have diagnostic tools and help to detect problems if any, and also provide the know-how on how to fix the problem.
Assurant Solutions has developed this app given the increased dependency of people on their mobile phones.
Along with providing diagnostic help, the program will provide other details about the mobile device which will help the customers to easily manage their handsets.
Assurant Solutions contributed 38% to the company’s earned premium in 2012 up from 36% in 2011, and is a leader in providing mobile protection coverage. Such initiatives further solidify its leadership presence. Also, with sustained focus on strengthening its portfolio and thus better service to its customers, we expect the momentum to continue.
Assurant serves mobile customers in 16 countries, reflecting its expanded capabilities and global footprint. The company also has partnership with Telefónica, Argentine telecoms operator.
This initiative by the company is in sync with its growth target in domestic and international extended service contracts. The company is making steady progress in its mobile franchise. In July, the company announced a fee-based relationship with T-Mobile through the company’s JUMP!TM phone upgrade program. The company also has relationship with Sprint through which it serves Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile.
Assurant currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Other players – Eastern Insurance Holdings, Inc. (EIHI), FBL Financial Group Inc. (FFG) with Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy) and Kemper Corp. (KMPR) with Zacks Rank #2 (Buy) are worth investing in.
