Microsemi Corporation (MSCC) recently unveiled a 750 watt (W) RF transistor named MDSGN-750ELMV. The transistor is designed to provide highest power performance in air traffic control and accident avoidance equipment. The device can be used in applications such as secondary surveillance radar, which, in turn, is used to identify aircrafts within a range of about 200 miles from base.

A transistor is a semiconductor device used for the amplification and switching of electronic signals. It is the principal building block of modern electronic devices and is widely used in radios, calculators and computers.

The MDSGN-750ELMV is equipped to handle challenging Mode-S Extended Length Messaging (ELM) conditions. ELM helps to communicate weather and air traffic related information to aircrafts within a particular region. The new RF device can also be used in collision avoidance systems, IFF systems and commercial air-to-air traffic alerts.

Microsemi Corp. is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of analog, mixed-signal and discrete semiconductors. The company's semiconductors manage and regulate power, protect against transient voltage spikes and transmit, receive and amplify signals. The company's products include individual components, as well as complete circuit solutions that enhance customer end products by optimizing battery usage, reducing size or protecting circuits.

Microsemi’s adjusted earnings per share in the third quarter of fiscal 2013 came in at 42 cents, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 4 cents or 10.5%. Microsemi reported revenues of $242.6 million, up 3.1% sequentially but down 6.4% year over year. For the fourth quarter of fiscal 2013, Microsemi expects revenues to increase 2–4%.
