Zacks

Amdocs Ltd. (DOX), a leading provider of customer relationship management and billing software to communications service providers, has recently planned to acquire Actix International for $120 million in cash. The deal is expected to close by the end of this month.

Actix International offers mobile network optimizing technology to wireless network operators. The technology not only minimizes expenses of network operators but also enhances the experience of its end customers.

Acquisition of Actix will help Amdocs integrate its customer data and solutions with the former’s geo-located network data, thereby slashing costs by making complete use of its existing network.

Recently, the company won several major contracts, comprising two in the emerging markets of Brazil and Indonesia and one in the most economically volatile region of Europe.

Amdocs’ business opportunity in the U.S. is more visible after stabilization of businesses with AT&T Inc. (T) and renewal of long-term contracts with several leading telecom and cable TV operators like Comcast Corp. (CMCSA). Moreover, it has signed a 5-year global managed services agreement with Vodafone Group plc. (VOD). The new deal will help the carrier to optimize its customer care and billing activities.

The company is performing well in the emerging markets of Southeast Asia and Latin America. The total order backlog was $2,830 million at the end of the third quarter of fiscal 2013.

Amdocs also bought Bridgewater which will help the company enhance its phone-billing software. This software facilitates carriers to effectively monetize their assets and deliver superior services while improving operating performance.

Amdocs currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
