Recently, Navistar International Corporation (NAV) crossed the milestone of 10,000 orders for its International Trucks featuring Cummins Inc.’s (CMI) Cummins ISX15 engine and Cummins SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) aftertreatment system. These trucks include the International ProStar with ISX, the International PayStar 5900 Set-Back Axle and the International 9900i.

Navistar brought back the popular truck and engine combination in 2012 end, to meet the growing customer demand for a competent 15-liter engine in its International ProStar truck. Thus began its transition to SCR-based technology, resulting in the launch of the Cummins ISX15 engine in the International PayStar 5900 Set-Back Axle and the International 9900i in Apr 2013.

The successful acceptance of this truck and engine combination is evident from the attainment of 10,000 orders as well as the number of repeat orders Navistar is receiving. The company’s customers include some of the biggest for hire and leasing fleets in the industry, such as Penske Automotive Group, Inc. (PAG) and Ryder System, Inc. (R). Most of the large clients carry out an in-depth analysis on the quality of the trucks before making a purchase.

The International ProStar with ISX is becoming increasingly popular and has gained a strong status in the industry. Navistar is aiming for complete transition of all heavy-duty trucks to SCR.

The company recently revealed that it is launching a new version of its International TranStar regional haul tractor featuring a MaxxForce 13 engine with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions technology. TranStar is the fifth heavy-duty International truck model to have been converted to SCR technology since Dec 2012. The company also manufactures the International ProStar, International WorkStar and the International TranStar trucks equipped with the MaxxForce 13 engine with SCR technology.

Navistar currently carries a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell), while Cummins carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
