Windstream Corporation (WIN) — one of the largest U.S. rural local exchange carriers (RLEC) — has collaborated with Mitel for the popular MiVoice and MiCollab technologies for Windstream’s business clients.
MiVoice and MiCollab are cloud-based Unified Communications as a Service (UcaaS) solutions, supported with Mitel's MiCloud. Thus, the clients of Windstream will connect to UC, mobile and desktop applications without much difficulty, thereby reducing cost of business.
Mitel’s MiVoice and MiCollab solutions are available to subscribers combined with Windstream's cloud solutions by VMware. This offers better geo-redundancy and local survivability.
Last month, Windstream entered into a partnership with Avaya to expand its managed Unified Communications (UC). Avaya, a U.S. — based provider of business communications and collaboration systems, which will provide communication solutions – Aura to Windstream’s UC services.
Apart from Avaya, the company has also teamed up with LifeSize Communications, a division of Logitech International SA (LOGI), to provide high definition (HD) video conferencing services to customers using Windstream's IP networking solutions.
With the acquisition of the leading broadband service provider, PAETEC Holding Corp, in Dec 2011, the company aims to gain significant momentum in its enterprise market with nationwide coverage of fiber network cables. The purchase increased opportunities in cloud computing and managed services. It also attracted business customers across many locations. Windstream is also planning to introduce customized business solutions that will improve its competitive position.
So, we believe that partnerships with these firms will not only improve Windstream’s performance but also drive subscriber growth, hence, providing a cutting edge over the other industry players, namely, Frontier Communications (FTR) and Consolidated Communications (CNSL).
