Recognition for Dow Electronic Materials

The Dow Chemical Company’s (DOW) business unit, Dow Electronic Materials, has been honored with ON Semiconductor’s Perfect Quality Gold Award for 2012. Dow achieved perfect quality score for 2011 and 2012 in ON Semiconductor’s FE Supplier Performance Rating as a supplier of chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) and lithography materials.

The award was conferred on Dow for the second consecutive year. Dow’s high score can be ascribed to its support of ON Semiconductor at domestic locations in Gresham, Oregon and Pocatello, Idaho, as well as its international facilities in Belgium, the Czech Republic and Japan.

Dow’s aim is essentially to provide customer satisfaction and offer best quality materials supported by strong collaboration and extensive service capabilities. Dow Electronic Materials is a global supplier of materials and technologies to the electronics industry, including the semiconductor, interconnect, finishing, photovoltaic, display, LED and optics markets.

Dow reported its first-quarter 2013 results in April 2013. The company’s profit soared roughly 33% year over year to $550 million or 46 cents a share on the strength of its agriculture science business, which witnessed record sales of seeds and crop protection products. Excluding one-time items, Dow earned 69 cents a share in the quarter, up from 61 cents a year ago, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 60 cents.

Dow currently holds a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).

Other companies in the chemical industry having favorable Zacks Rank are Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. (SHECY), Celanese Corporation (CE) and Methanex Corporation (MEOH). All of them retain a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
