About the Industry

‘Brain games’ have been a casual games staple since Nintendo popularized the genre with its 2006 DS cartridge Brain Age, a puzzle game collection inspired by the work of Japanese neuroscientist Ryuta Kawashima.

Since starting Lumosity in 2007, CEO Kunar Sakar stated that brain games are a big trend these days as companies try to combat diseases such as Alzheimer’s by combining fun with improved mental health and millions of consumers use every day to enhance their lives.

Mind360 is going to be competing in a space where it has been ranked number 8 in a 2013 Best Brain Games Store Comparisons and Reviews by TopTenREVIEWS @ http://brain-games-puzzle-stores-review.toptenreviews.com/. “Mind360 is a great choice for those wanting to play online games for increased brain health.”

The Science Behind the Games

A growing body of research is confirming what people have always believed: the brain can function better with the help of some exercise.

Over the last few decades, neuroscientists have learned that your brain has the amazing ability to grow and change at any point in your lifetime. This breakthrough has opened the door to myriad possibilities, from increasing intelligence and memory in daily life to recovering from traumatic injuries

Your brain has the ability to physically change itself when faced with new, challenging experiences. This ability is called neuroplasticity.

Not every experience can rewire your brain for the better. In order to fully harness the power of neuroplasticity, you need to challenge your brain with training that’s novel, adaptive and complete.

Queensland Brain Institute director Professor Perry Bartlett said new studies have not only confirmed the theory, but some old ideas are also being smashed. Prof Bartlett said brain exercise can benefit people of any age.

According to a May 1, 2003 Article in U.S. News & World Report, “As life spans continue to lengthen, it’s becoming increasingly clear that our brains as well as our bodies are amazingly resilient and adaptive. Even 90-year-olds can build new muscle mass through physical exercise. So can their brains, although what’s being developed is not new muscle but new synapses. And while some of the exercise that produces these effects is physical, most of it is mental.”

iLearn Technology, endorses integrating Mind360 into the classroom: “Mind360 would be an excellent way to start each day. Many of the games take 3-5 minutes to complete (not including all the levels) making it ideal for a brain boosting start to the school day. This is a great game site that students will enjoy but is serving the greater purpose of increased learning.”

“We will be focusing on enhancing the site to improve user experience as well as address the pre-existing lack of customer support. We want to be a competitive force in this business segment” – Victoria Rudman, CEO of Intelligent Living.
