NCR Corp. (NCR) recently unveiled a series of solutions under its Hospitality segment to make the task of purchasing movie tickets easier and thereby save time.
NCR is introducing a new application, Movie Time, for smartphones. The app will allow users to browse movie schedules, purchase tickets and share it with friends and relatives, get discounts and earn loyalty points. The app will enable cinema operators to record credit card details of the user and secure the same through password protection. After paying for the tickets through their phone, the user will be able to collect the hard copy of the tickets from any point-of-sale (POS) kiosk.
NCR’s Slimline 85 also enhances the movie-going experience by making ticket purchase easy. Slimline 85 is a 32-inch touch-screen kiosk, which displays multi-media such as movie art and trailers and facilitates automated ticketing. Moviegoers can also obtain tickets at a concessional rate.
Prior to the launch of these solutions, NCR launched the Usherman services in Nov 2011 to accelerate e-ticket checking at auditoriums, thereby making the task of ushers much easier. Ushers generally work in theaters, stadiums, symphony halls and other recreational places. Patrons hand their tickets to ushers, who lead or direct them to their seats. Usherman services can be easily deployed through Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) iPod Touch 4G.
NCR reported 42.9% year-over-year growth in its Hospitality segment revenues, which was possible due to improved product adoption, especially in Americas. NCR bolstered its hospitality offerings in 2011 with the acquisition of Radiant Systems, a provider of retail and hospitality technology solutions.
We believe that the new product launches and popularity of existing solutions will help NCR to maintain the growth trend.
