Global advisory firm FTI Consulting, Inc. (FCN) recently announced the acquisition of C2 Group, a Washington-based bipartisan government relations and lobbying firm, for an undisclosed amount. The strategic move is aimed at protecting and enhancing enterprise value of diversified organizations across the world amid the increasingly complex legal, regulatory and economic environment, where government policy has been playing a defining role.
Post-acquisition, C2 Group will form a part of the Public Affairs division in the Strategic Communications segment of FTI Consulting in the U.S., which typically offers consulting and advisory services relating to mergers and acquisitions, crisis and issue management, market entry and market expansion. Moving forward, FTI Consulting expects to complement its senior advisory services by leveraging the government relations and direct advocacy services of C2 Group and thereby influence the outcome of a legislative or a regulatory process in the best interests of its clients.
This proactive engagement is likely to augment the bottom line of the client companies and provide deep insights on public policy issues that present opportunities and challenges to their organizations' enterprise value. Consequently, with C2 Group on board, FTI Consulting will be able to offer a holistic suite of management consulting services for the overall improvement of the company. On the other hand, by joining FTI Consulting, C2 Group has extended its reach and strengthened the impact of its client counsel. The transaction, therefore, is a win-win deal for both the participating companies.
