Skyera Names Frankie Roohparvar COO

Former VP of NAND Development at Micron Technology

PR Newswire

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Skyera Inc., founded by an executive and engineering team with unsurpassed backgrounds in the solid-state, storage and networking arenas, continued building its world-class executive team with the addition of former Vice President and General Manager of OEM Division; NAND Solutions Group at Micron Technology Frankie Roohparvar as its Chief Operating Officer.

Roohparvar brings nearly 30 years of industry experience to Skyera. For the last 13 years at Micron he served in various senior engineering and executive positions in Flash memory and NAND development, ultimately responsible for design centers in California, Colorado, Japan, Italy and China for the $7.5 billion company. Prior to Micron, Roohparvar was one of the founders of Micron Quantum Devices, an early provider of NOR Flash memory that was acquired by Micron. He started his career in non-volatile memory at Xicor where he served as Design Engineering Manager.

“Having been involved with NAND from the early days of its adoption in solid-state storage, I was in a unique position to watch how NAND worked its way into the SSS field,” said Roohparvar. “Seeing the huge potential for disruption that Skyera’s technology is introducing, I wanted to get on the ground floor of this innovation revolution.”

Roohparvar is a member of the Board of Directors at Link_A_Media Devices, a leader in developing and manufacturing custom System-on-Chip solutions for peripheral data storage devices, including hard disk drives and solid-state devices. He holds MBAs from the Columbia Business School and the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a MS in Electrical Engineering at Santa Clara University and a BS in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University.

“Piece by piece we have assembled a top-notch collection of talented individuals who will contribute their unique skill sets to the development of our revolutionary solid-state storage systems,” said Dr. Radoslav Danilak, Skyera CEO. “Frankie has an incredible track record in the NAND space and we welcome his extensive experience to our company.”

Skyera is providing global innovation through the development of disruptive system-level solid-state storage technology that combines storage and networking to achieve greater speed, reliability and efficiency than both traditional and solid-state solutions on the market today. By building an entirely new architecture from the ground up, rather than taking an incremental approach, Skyera is leveraging the benefits of next-generation flash memory while overcoming the limitations faced by solution vendors that shoehorn SSD devices into existing systems.
