Thousands of Backpacks Will Be Given Away During Back-to-School Event on Saturday, Aug. 11

BOISE, Idaho, July 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — McDonald’s Restaurants of Southern Idaho wants to make sure students are prepared for the upcoming school year. On Saturday, August 11, McDonald’s restaurants will be giving away nearly 3,000 backpacks beginning at 8 a.m. for FREE as part of Backpack Saturday! McDonald’s restaurants in Treasure Valley, Mountain Home, Weiser, Idaho and Ontario, Oregon, will be passing out backpacks while supplies last.

When it comes to school readiness, equally important to school supplies is having a balanced breakfast. As one of the most popular mealtimes at McDonald’s, all area restaurants feature Wholesome Starts breakfast items like the iconic Egg McMuffin as well as 40 favorite menu items under 400 calories.

“We selected the morning hour to debut our backpack giveaway because it’s the most important meal of the day, especially for students; and our restaurants have plenty of delicious, healthy breakfast options for everyone,” said Dick Darmody, Owner Operator of local McDonald’s restaurants in Treasure Valley. “And because back-to-school shopping can be overwhelming, we hope our backpack giveaway helps some families check off at least one item from their list!”

This is the first year that McDonald’s restaurants of Southern Idaho are offering free backpacks to students in the community. This offer is good at participating McDonald’s restaurants in Treasure Valley, Mountain Home, and Weiser, Idaho, and Ontario, Oregon. Excludes airport McDonald’s. It is valid only on Saturday, August 11 at 8 a.m. Child must be present for offer. One backpack per school age child (kindergarten through 8th grade) while supplies last.
