About Brett Lawrie

A product of Langley, British Columbia, Lawrie has already become one of
the best Canadian players in Blue Jays history. Brett was the
highest-drafted Canadian position player ever, going 16th overall in
the 2008 draft to the Milwaukee Brewers. His potent bat was evident
right away, getting him to Double-A by 2009. In 2010 he led the
Southern League in four offensive categories despite being the
second-youngest player in the Double-A league, and in 2011, he hit .353
with a .661 slugging percentage in Triple-A before his Aug. 5 promotion
to the majors. He got a standing ovation before his first home at-bat,
and the next day became the youngest Jays player ever to hit a grand
