NSU Resources Inc CEO and CTO Visit to Shatter Lake, Byers Brook and Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources

PR Newswire

SAULT STE MARIE, Ontario, June 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — NSU Resources Inc. (OTCQB: NOST) NOST CEO/ President, Dr. Luc Duchesne, with Chief Technology Officer Dr. Robert Williams, recently visited the property and the NSDNR and is pleased to update shareholders on its progress for the exploration of Rare Earth Elements on its Shatter Lake and Byers Brook claims in Colchester County, Nova Scotia. Together with local prospectors Dr. Duchesne and Dr. Williams visited both Mineral Licenses and assessed vegetation, site access for prospecting equipment, and supporting infrastructure. Further, the company reported meeting with geologist Dr. Trevor MacHattie of the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources to review publically available data from the company’s claims. The NSU Resources Shatter Lake property in Nova Scotia is located along the granite-rhyolite contact, which is now known to host heavy REE enrichment. Since our site assessment, the company has planned an exploration campaign for Rare Earth Elements on the Shatter Lake License. We became keenly interested in Rare Earth Elements (REE’s) because neighboring properties are the object of significant exploration efforts by both the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and the private sector. According to data provided by experts, the Shatter Lake Property offers similar potential as the REE discovery location (Debert Lake), which is approximately 2 km west of the Shatter Lake property boundary. The Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources (NSDNR) very recently started a renewed research program in the Cobequid highlands as a follow up to a late 1980’s stream sediment sampling program. The REE’s, as described by the NSDNR in the area, are enriched dykes and pegmatites as part of the peralkaline Hart Lake / Byers Lake granite. The initial mineralogy work by NSDNR has identified that REE mineralization is enriched in the Heavy Rare Earth Elements (HREE’s), which are the rarer more valuable rare earths, at an average ratio of 50% of the Total Rare Earth Oxides (TREO). The mineralogy also suggests that the HREE’s are not bound chemically to the zirconium, and warrant further study.
