The Dow Chemical Company (DOW) has installed the first POWHERHOUSE Solar Shingle roof in San Antonio, Texas. A local family became the first in Texas with this cutting-age technology, which helps cut utility bills and increase home value. The POWHERHOUSE Solar Shingle roof system is also available in Northern California since April 2012.

The POWERHOUSE Solar Shingle includes a custom designed array that complements the style of the homeowners while fulfilling their goals. It comes with an inverter that converts Direct Current (DC) into Alternating Current (AC) to power the home. The system also delivers real-time production and consumption readouts from any internet connection.

The solar shingle not only protects the home but also generates solar energy. The San Antonio family believes that the POWERHOUSE roof system will help it to reduce utility bills by 40%.

POWERHOUSE Solar Shingle is certified as both a solar and roofing product. It has received seven performance and safety certifications, and is proven to withstand rain, hail and wind uplift.
