Stop & Shop Alerts Customers to Voluntary Recall of Odwalla Chocolate Protein Monster Beverage

QUINCY, Mass., April 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company LLC, following a recall by Odwalla, Inc., announced it has removed from sale Odwalla Chocolate Protein Monster beverage. Some consumers who are allergic to peanuts or tree nuts have reported severe allergic reactions after consumption. This action is being taken out of an abundance of caution as the cause of the reactions has not yet been determined.

The affected product has a use by date prior to and including 23 MAY 2012. The following product is included in this recall:

  • Odwalla Chocolate Protein Monster, 12 oz., UPC 1405413509

Customers who have purchased the product should discard any unused portions or bring their purchase receipt to Stop & Shop for a full refund.

Symptoms of food allergies typically appear from within a few minutes to two hours after a person has eaten the food to which he or she is allergic. Allergic reactions can include: hives; flushed skin or rash; tingling or itchy sensation in the mouth; face, tongue, or lip swelling; vomiting and/or diarrhea; abdominal cramps; coughing or wheezing; dizziness and/or lightheadedness; swelling of the throat and vocal cords; difficulty breathing; loss of consciousness.
