CHICAGO, Nov. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Chicago based US wine importer, Vin Divino (www.vindivino.com), has been purchased by The Angelini Group of Italy (www.angelini.it), a global consumer products company based in Rome. The investment by The Angelini Group signals its continued growth as a prominent player in the Italian wine industry and strengthens exposure for its existing portfolio of fine wines in the US.

“We are very pleased to take this significant step in strengthening our platform in the world’s most important wine market,” said Jordi Balleste, President of The Angelini Group.

An established importer, Vin Divino has strategically trimmed its book from over 150 brands to less than 20 coveted wineries from Austria, Chile and Italy. Each winery has been carefully selected based on its quality and value, and represents the best example of its region. Vin Divino chooses estate properties and long-standing family run wineries from notable areas. While maintaining important traditions, these wineries also embrace modern, state-of-the-art winemaking technology and sustainable vineyard practices. Six of these wineries are from The Angelini Group’s portfolio of Italian wines, which shares the same goals as Vin Divino, aligning this new relationship for targeted growth and brand selectivity.

Vin Divino has taken a huge step forward in the direction of representing some of the finest Italian brands,” said Vin Divino‘s President Len Nowicki. “Our acquisition by The Angelini Group only amplifies our mutual commitment to promote innovative wines from classic and dynamic categories. We will continue to be selective and relevant as we grow our portfolio. We are excited to have the support of The Angelini Group behind us.”

The Angelini Group is privately held by the Angelini family, who began investing in Italian vineyards and wineries in the 1950’s. Third generation Francesco Angelini takes great pride in the company’s wine division, the only consumer products which carry his name and signature on the label. With six Italian wine brands already in its current portfolio, The Angelini Group has plans to acquire several more in various regions and boost its presence in the US market.
