Leading dental laser maker BIOLASE Technology (BLTI) has won the approval of the Federal Service of Health Care and Social Development Control in Russia to market its WaterLase iPlus all-tissue dental laser and iLase dental laser in that country.
The approval of these novel products in the key Russian market represents a major milestone for BIOLASE. Russia is highly receptive to the latest dental laser technologies. The company recently received regulatory clearance in Canada to market the WaterLase laser.
Waterlase iPlus was launched in the U.S. in early 2011. Besides addressing the key functional needs of laser dentists, the device also doubles the power and cutting speed with unmatched control and versatility for novices as well as experienced users.
The iLase laser is the world’s first portable, wireless, battery-operated laser capable of performing a comprehensive range of minimally-invasive soft-tissue and hygiene procedures.
BIOLASE markets its products in Russia exclusively through its distribution partner UNIDENT, a Moscow-based leading supplier of dental equipment and material. The WaterLase and iLase lasers will be showcased and available for sale at the Moscow International Dental Forum and Exhibition (“Dental-Expo 2011”) in Russia between September 26 and 29. With over 25,000 expected attendees, Dental-Expo is the biggest dental show in Russia and is recognized as major meeting point for dental professionals.
BIOLASE develops and markets lasers and related products for applications in medicine and dentistry. Its key products are dental laser systems that perform a broad spectrum of dental procedures, including cosmetic and complex surgical applications. Dental products distributor Henry Schein (HSIC) is one of its key distributors.
The company’s revenues more than doubled year over year in the most recent quarter, largely attributable to the healthy demand for its WaterLase iPlus laser, which accounted for roughly 63% of total sales. WaterLase iPlus is shaping up to be a major future growth driver.
