Its time again to fasten the seat belts and speed through the racing tracks as Activision Blizzard Inc. (ATVI) unveiled its latest racing spectacle NASCAR Unleashed. This is the latest entrant in the NASCAR racing series after NASCAR The Game 2011. The game is set to release this holiday season.

NASCAR Unleashed offers speed enthusiasts a high-octane, super fast racing experience. Gamers have the option of racing on various NASCAR tracks, namely Daytona International Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway(SM), Martinsville Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. The most spectacular part of the game is that drivers can deviate from the track and drive on the pavements, beaches, and off-roads of the surrounding cities.

The enhanced gameplay allows gamers to perform popular NASCAR tricks like drafting and sling-shotting. To get to the checkered flags, gamers have to bump and grind opponents out of their way.

Like its predecessor, NASCAR The Game 2011, players can choose to play as themselves or as one of the sport's real-world drivers such as Dale Earnhardt Jr., Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Mark Martin, Danica Patrick, Tony Stewart and 2011 Daytona 500 champion Trevor Bayne as they battle it out for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship. NASCAR 2011 has been customized for players of every skill level.

NASCAR Unleashed will be available on Microsoft Inc.’s (MSFT) Xbox 360, Sony Corp.’s (SNE) Playstation3 and Wii and Nintendo 3DS.

We believe the NASCAR series of racing games will boost Activision’s customer base, thereby driving top-line growth in 2011.

Activision plans to reduce its exposure in low-margin and low-potential businesses, helping it to grow over the long term and enable it to continue expanding its position as the largest digital publisher. Moreover, management expects growth from the high-margin Digital business going forward.

However, the company faces stiff competition from Electronic Arts Inc. (ERTS) and Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. (TTWO).

We have a Neutral rating on Activision over the long term (6-12 months). Currently, Activision has a Zacks #2 Rank, which implies a short-term Buy rating.
