Atmel maXTouch mXT224E, a controller of Atmel Corporation (ATML) has been selected by Samsung for its next-generation Galaxy S II touchscreen.
The Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone runs on the Android OS version 2.3 and also features a 4.3-inch super AMOLED with a capacitive touchscreen.
The new Atmel maXTouch 224E controller will support the users of Samsung Galaxy S II by enabling unlimited touches, faster response times, higher accuracy, lower power and superior sensitivity.
Moreover, this controller is noted for providing a superior touchscreen experience on thinner screens through "on-cell" enabling in sleeker, thinner, brighter touchscreen handsets.
Samsung is well-known for offering the most innovative touch smartphones and the company is excited about being selected by Samsung for its next-generation smartphone touchscreens.
Earlier, Atmel maXTouch mXT1386, a touch screen solutions of Atmel, was selected by Samsung to power its flagship model Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Atmel maXTouch continues to drive a number of touch devices from smartphones to 7-inch tablets and is also encouraged to power one of the newest Android tablets in the market.
Atmel’s touch-sensing market will continue to expand rapidly beyond smartphones into new applications such as tablets, netbooks, cameras, printers, automotives and other areas. Touch-sensing technology happens to be the fastest growing area in the company's microcontroller business and is expected to remain a major growth driver.
Atmel is aggressively marketing its new maxTouch technology and has strong ties with high-profile touch customers, including Nokia (NOK), Sharp, Toshiba, Motorola (MMI) and HTC.
The company is in the process of transforming itself into a purely microcontroller-based company, which it believes will improve its cost structure and unlock value.
Based in San Jose, California, Atmel designs and manufactures microcontrollers, capacitive touch solutions, advanced logic, mixed-signal, non-volatile memory and radio frequency components.
