Advertising titan, WPP plc (WPPGY) remains committed to expanding its foothold in fast-growing markets. Recently the company’s information, insight and consultancy group, Kantar, acquired a minority stake in Affectiva Inc. for $3 million.
The strategic investment will enable both WPP plc and Affectiva to benefit from the combination of survey-based and technology-enabled observational data. Affectiva is well known for its two prime technologies, Q Sensor and Affdex, which measure emotional responses of consumers.
In addition, WPP plc’s two leading communications wholly-owned operating companies, Finsbury Group and Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, announced a merger to form RLM Finsbury. The resultant company will operate from its office in New York and a new office to be set up in Hong Kong by the third quarter of 2011. The combined firm will employ roughly 180 people across the globe.
RLM Finsbury will be a global leader in strategic corporate, financial and crisis communications. Its scope of work will be wide-ranging and include crisis and reputation management; M&A and financial communications for the international capital markets; corporate positioning; management transitions; litigation support; corporate governance matters; corporate reorganizations and restructurings; labor and employment matters; public policy and regulatory issues, including corporate governance; strategic marketing communications; employee communications; and digital strategy.
Robinson Lerer & Montgomery is a strategic communications firm that provides counsel to senior management of national and international companies in a broad range of industries. Finsbury offers strategic communications advice to international clients on their interaction with the media, financial markets, governments and key stakeholders.
