NEW YORK, July 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Grupo Marcatel, through its subsidiary in the United States, Vivaro Corporation, has completed the acquisition of 50 percent of the shares of STX Communications, a company based in New York, with an income of over 100 million dollars a year, ranked as the absolute leading distributor of prepaid phone cards in this country with over 15 thousand distribution points in the New York metropolitan area, continually growing and standing well above any other dealer in the city, strengthening Vivaro as the number one in the United States.

Through this acquisition, Grupo Marcatel strengthens its business structure and welcomes, as a strategic member of its team, Mr. Ken Tawfik, who is a member of the Tawfik family, internationally renowned in the prepaid calling card industry.
