IC Bus LLC, an affiliate of Navistar International Corp. (NAV), along with IMMI, an industry leader in the design, testing and manufacturing of advanced safety systems, recently announced the introduction of the new IC Bus BTI Seating System.

This new line of seating arrangement will enhance the existing seating system and will allow customers to switch to SafeGuard belted seats or integrated child seats from a base seat without even configuring their bus floor.

The two companies have closely collaborated to design and introduce this new line of SafeGuard belted seatbacks, which are now available on all new IC Buses. Moreover, the new technology is flexible and can be updated, as per requirements, on any buses equipped with IC Bus proprietary base seats available since the beginning of last year.

Based in Warrenville, Ill., IC Bus LLC is considered to be North America’s largest integrated manufacturer of school buses and commercial buses. The company is also a global leader in passenger protection, chassis design, engines and ergonomics. Moreover, it is a wholly owned affiliate of Navistar International.

Navistar International is engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of commercial trucks, mid-range diesel engines, buses, military vehicles and chassis for motor homes and step-vans, and provides service parts for various trucks and trailers. The company is one of the largest truck producers after Daimler AG (DDAIF) and PACCAR Inc. (PCAR).

In the last reported quarter, Navistar International recorded a robust increase in profit (excluding the engineering integration costs) to $80 million or $1.02 per share from $43 million or 60 cents per share in the corresponding quarter of the prior year. Revenues in the quarter escalated 22.3% to $3.36 billion and total segment profit rose significantly by 12.8% year over year to $168 million.
