Zacks

The discounted U.S. airline JetBlue Airways Corporation (JBLU) has entered into a partnership with Qatar Airways. This is the eleventh partnership made by the company since its inception.

The alliance lets travelers avail of both carriers from New York's John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport.

In the U.S., Qatar Airways offers daily flights to Doha from Houston, New York, and Washington. In addition, the company operates several destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America. On the other hand, JetBlue’s vast offerings include Boston, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Orlando, San Francisco, and Puerto Rico.

The partnership adds various new destinations to JetBlue’s portfolio. These include Bali, Indonesia; Cebu, Philippines; Phuket, Thailand; and Hanoi, Vietnam.

JetBlue offers premium services to its customers with the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleet among major U.S. airlines such as Delta Air Lines (DAL), United Continental Holdings Inc. (UAL) and Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV).

Airline partnerships are a key growth strategy for JetBlue. It remains focused on expanding its partnerships to enhance its international footprint and reap travel benefits. These alliances also bring in revenue prospects for JetBlue.

JetBlue has solidified its position as the largest airline serving Boston Logan International Airport through various partnerships entered in the past. The company’s growing presence in the Caribbean and Latin America, leading position in the Boston market, and unique position as the largest domestic carrier at JFK airport also auger well for future growth and top-line improvement.

We are currently maintaining our long-term Neutral recommendation on JetBlue supported by the Zacks #3 (Hold) Rank.
