Outsourcing major Infosys Technologies (INFY) recently entered into a strategic partnership with Auckland based Gen-i.

This partnership is expected to create a new choice for Australasian enterprises, which seek local expertise and global best practices and capabilities in IT services including IT consulting, business transformation and cloud-based offerings.

The partnership was entered by Infosys Australia & New Zealand, the Australasian arm of global technology services and consulting company Infosys, and Gen-i, the corporate ICT arm of Telecom New Zealand.

Management stated that the partnership will help businesses to transform for competitive advantage with new ways to innovate, reduce costs and increase the effectiveness of their people, processes and technology.

The partnership also has significant potential to further grow New Zealand-based technology jobs as near-shore delivery from New Zealand for Australian clients and global delivery headed by local management are among the joint growth strategies planned.

Additionally, Infosys acquired Gen-i's Software Solutions practice and offered positions to its more than 110 employees and contractors. The acquisition will add approximately 150 people to the Infosys’ New Zealand team.

Over the years, Infosys has sharpened its focus on Research & Development, Intellectual Property-based solutions and New Engagement Models (NEMs).

The company continues to focus on large transformational engagements, especially through its consulting and enterprise solution offerings. Clients have been impressed by its engineering services. The pricing environment has stabilized and there is increasing demand for its system integration services due to Mergers & Acquisitions.
