Dunkin’ Welcomes 2015 with New Croissant, Bagel

Zacks

Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc. (DNKN) is ready to welcome 2015 with two new items — Chocolate Croissant and Tomato Mozzarella Supreme Bagel. These will be available throughout early 2015 in all participating Dunkin’ restaurants across the U.S.

The Chocolate Croissant is filled with chocolate and served warm, while Tomato Mozzarella Supreme Bagel is a plain bagel with mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and herb topping.

The Massachusetts-based quick service restaurant operator is also promoting the newly launched Dark Roast Coffee via the social media network, Twitter Inc. (TWTR). Dunkin’ will also launch a Turkey Sausage Flatbread, featuring turkey sausage, egg and reduced fat cheddar cheese, served on an oven-toasted multigrain flatbread that can be paired up with the aromatic Dark Roast coffee.

The company has continuously focusED on menu innovation by adding burritos, smoothies and other items to survive in the hugely competitive quick service restaurant sector. Last month only, the restaurant operator rolled out a doughnut-croissant hybrid called the Croissant Donut. (Read More: Dunkin' Brands Croissant Donut to Tap 'Cronut' Craze)

After reporting disappointing quarterly sales last week and warning that it might struggle to reach its long-term growth targets, the menu item launches offer a ray of hope. However, a major portion of Dunkin’ Brands’ revenues comes from the breakfast segment, where it competes with industry giants like McDonald's Corp. (MCD), Starbucks Corp. (SBUX) and Yum! Brands, Inc.’s (YUM) Taco Bell.

Dunkin’ Brands currently has a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell).
