Leading semiconductor solutions provider Broadcom Corporation (BRCM) recently announced the launch of its latest physical layer transceiver (PHY) BCM82764. The 40GbE quad port gearbox PHY is a perfect fit for high density switch environments and is the first of its kind in the industry.
The BCM82764 PHY is fabricated in 28 nanometer (nm) technologies and is well suited for use with strataXGS tomahawk switch series. It supports four 40G Ethernet ports on a single device and converts 20 Gbps signals to multiple lanes running at 10 Gbps. Also, the integrated module controls ease routing congestion on high density Printed Circuit Boards (PCB).
