KOKOMO, Ind., July 29, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ — The Kokomo Auto World brand has long included a mix of new Honda, Toyota and Ford models, however the recent sale of the Ford franchise will play a significant role in shaping the future of the dealership.

Kokomo Auto World sold its Ford franchise to Brad Howell Ford, a Greentown Ford dealership that, like Kokomo Auto World, is preparing for an expansion. The strong working relationship between the two dealerships led to a mutually beneficial sale of Kokomo Auto World’s Ford branch as both dealers prepare for the future.

“There were many other dealers very interested in this deal,” Kokomo Auto World co-owner Greg Landwerlen said in an article in the Kokomo Tribune. “Brad Howell and his family are phenomenal people in the community, and we wanted to make sure it was in good hands, because it means a lot to [co-owner] Jim Kebrdle and myself. Ford’s been a great product and franchise for all of us.”

While it may seem counterintuitive for Kokomo Auto World to sell its Ford franchise in the midst of planning for an expansion, the dealership is looking to bolster its Honda and Toyota offerings during the renovations. The equity from the sale and the additional space on the lot will allow Kokomo Auto World to do just that, as the dealership plans to add two new state-of-the-art facilities for each of its two franchises. Without the 110 Ford models that were part of the sale to Howell Ford, Kokomo Auto World can extend its vehicle offerings and on-the-lot services.

The Kokomo Auto World expansion is expected to begin later this year, and the dealership will continue to operate in its current location until the construction of the new facilities is completed.
