Michael Welch, Glencore’s VP of Communications for the Raglan Mine, speaks with Kitco News about the challenges faced with running a mine in the extreme limit of Northern Quebec. “It’s logistically complex,” Welch says. “The biggest issue the project had even before it started production was how to get concentrate off the site.” Welch also talks about his outlook for nickel. “We don’t see a whole lot of change in the global nickel market for at least the next 24 months,” he says. “We really don’t start seeing a balance probably until late 2016, more towards 2017.” Watch now for more of our coverage of Quebec Mines 2013.
