Kitco’s Alex Letourneau welcomes David Jones, senior geologist and director at Minaurum Gold, to discuss exploration in the Guerrero Gold Belt region in Mexico. Since the 1980’s, the discovery rate in the region has been consistently at 600,000 ounces per year. Minaurum Gold has 3 projects underway covering 18,000 hectares of land within 20km of Goldcorp’s Los Filos mine in the same region. Jones claims that although many deposits are “blind discoveries” with very little surface indications, he remains optimistic about the region as there are no signs of abatement to its consistent discovery rate. Minaurum is confident in finding investors as its operating costs sit at $30,000 per month and as it plans to drill 7000 meters along the belt. Kitco News, April 11, 2013.
