Jystad Corp, The Human Heart; a total artificial heart to offer a solution for patients with advanced heart failure. The design mimics the blood flow pattern and function of the human heart. The aim is to reduce the risk of stroke, bleeding and anemia, which are common side effects of treatment with today’s heart pumps.

The Human Heart’s system is designed to be efficient, quiet and lightweight so that the patient can live a good life with high freedom of movement and comfort. The system is also designed with the user in mind, to make surgical implantation as easy as possible.

The Human Heart will be sold in combination with the equipment the patient needs: control unit, battery belt, batteries, charger and cables. As well as equipment for the care provider at the hospital such as monitors and necessary services (24/7 support, service of peripheral equipment, and training of care teams).


Norwegian innovative power has given the world medical technology inventions such as the heart and lung machine, the pacemaker and the dialysis machine. The next big innovation is The Human Heart’s artificial heart. A Norwegian patented product that saves people and creates a life-affirming continuation of life.

The foundation of the company was laid by the doctor Håkon Jystad in 2010 when he began sketching an artificial heart that fully mimics the biological one. In 2012, together with two partners, Jystad founded the scandinavian: The Human Heart.

Since the start, the development of the product has progressed steadily according to schedule. Today, the research takes place in close collaboration with world-leading heart surgeons, researchers and engineers, and interest from the research world is growing ever stronger.
