Amazon to Offer Instant Preview on Kindle App for Android

Zacks

The world's largest Internet retailer, Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN has added a new social reading feature — Instant Preview — to its Kindle app on Google’s GOOGL Android platform, to cash in on the increasing popularity of electronic gadgets. The updates will be available on Kindle e-readers, including the recently launched New Kindle Paperwhite, and other devices later this year.

Kindle New Instant Preview Feature

The new Kindle sharing feature lets users share snippets from ebooks with friends or family through messaging apps like Facebook FB Messenger, email, SMS and WhatsApp. The users can also share quotes and recommendations via other social media platforms like LinkedIn or Google+.

Upon receiving recommendation from a Kindle owner, one can read the preview of a book instantly on their mobile devices or desktop without signing into a Kindle account or downloading a Kindle app.

Earlier, readers could share quoted text on Facebook and Twitter via Goodreads, helping them to freely search and share books, but not via a messaging platform. Moreover, the new sharing feature resembles the Kindle Cloud Reader, with flexible text sizes and better page-turning experience.

To Conclude

Amazon’s constant adding of new features to its e-book reader is surely benefiting customers. According to a new report by PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers), consumer e-books (excluding educational publications) will reach the £1 billion mark by 2018. The e-book market has witnessed unprecedented growth, as both authors and readers have benefited from it. Amazon, through its Kindle reader and apps, is currently the leading e-book seller.

Amazon is one of the major players in an extremely fast-growing market. In the first quarter of 2015, the company’s revenues of $22.72 billion came within its guided range and just ahead of the Zacks Consensus Estimate. Both product and service sales grew strongly from the year-ago quarter and contributed 75% and 25%, respectively, to total revenue.

Currently, Amazon has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). A better-ranked stock in the same space is Blue Nile Inc. NILE, sporting a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
