Host Hotels Restructures Key Positions in Investment Team

Zacks

In a bid to restructure its investment team, Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. HST has brought about certain changes in the company’s key leadership positions. These restructuring initiatives, directed at investment activities in both the West Coast and the East, are expected to benefit the company by streamlining its organizational structure.

James F. Risoleo, who currently serves as the company’s executive vice president and managing director for Europe, has been assigned an additional responsibility as the managing director of Host Hotels’ West Coast investment activities. On the other hand, Nathan S. Tyrrell, who presently holds the position of senior vice president and treasurer, will manage the company’s investment activities in the East Coast. Jay L. Johnson, the current vice president and assistant treasurer, has been appointed as the senior vice president and treasurer. Both Mr. Risoleo and Mr. Tyrrell will report directly to W. Edward Walter, the chief executive officer of Host Hotels.

Bethesda, MD-based Host Hotels expects these changes at key leadership positions to not only help it streamline the organizational structure but also bolster its investment initiatives with dedicated resources focused on both the West and East regions.

Host Hotels is engaged in the ownership, acquisition, and redevelopment of upscale and luxury hotel properties in the U.S and abroad. For full-year 2014, the West Coast region experienced steady solid growth in revenue per available room (“RevPAR”), with San Francisco as the strongest domestic market. Given the current economic environment, the company expects a number of West Coast markets will continue to see strength, driving RevPAR growth in 2015. However, higher supply in the East Coast considerably dented the RevPAR of the company’s properties in the recent quarters. But we believe that supported by the restructuring efforts, Host Hotels will manage to extract the best results out of the investments made across different regions.

Currently, Host Hotels holds a Zacks Rank #4 (Sell).

Investors interested in the REIT sector may consider stocks like Ashford Hospitality Trust, Inc. AHT, Ryman Hospitality Properties, Inc. RHP and Gladstone Land Corporation LAND. All these stocks sport a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
