PR Newswire

MINNEAPOLIS, April 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — After years of working side by side, Gabriel deGrood Bendt (GdB) and McFarland Communications are joining forces to offer a fully integrated public relations division within GdB. The new entity will have the ability to work in tandem with GdB clients or on its own.

“As marketing keeps getting more complex, our clients are looking for fresh ways to keep it simple. Or, at least, to keep things streamlined and efficient,” said Tom Gabriel, CEO of GdB. “McFarland Communications has an outstanding reputation for strategic, creative and effective public relations campaigns. We’re certainly not the first to combine disciplines, but what makes this special is our long history of successes together, and our ability to give more than lip service to collaboration.”

Teresa McFarland, founder of McFarland Communications with a 25-year career in PR that includes working for two governors and a congressman, Mall of America, and serving as communications director for the Minneapolis/Saint Paul Host Committee for the 2008 Republican National Convention, will be president of the new entity. McFarland Communications, a boutique agency with billings over $1 million, is one of the top 25 public relations firms in Minneapolis.

McFarland Communications currently works with a variety of clients including the City of Minneapolis on the Downtown East Commons project and Nicollet Mall renovation; Davanni’s; The Minneapolis Downtown Council on the Aquatennial; J.R. Watkins; Genesis Archery (a collaborative effort with GdB); Zeller Realty Group; Felhaber Larson; and more.

“Given the current communications landscape where public relations, social and advertising are converging, having a team that can fire on all cylinders is a huge advantage,” McFarland said. “We may be moving a few blocks down the street but we are greatly moving the dial on what we will offer our clients going forward. I’ve known Tom and Doug and the crew at GdB for many years and have had many occasions to witness the excellent work they do. This is a very exciting opportunity for our teams and future collaborations.”

McFarland Communications will move to the GdB space at Sixth Street and Second Avenue by May 1, 2015. The name of the new entity will be announced soon.

“This is a genuine partnership that’ll energize us all, and lead to bigger and better ideas for our clients,” Gabriel said.

In December, GdB was acquired by Clear Night Group (CNG), a marketing services holding company and subsidiary of Evening Post Industries.
