AT&T Unveils New Wi-Fi Solution for Small Businesses

Zacks

U.S. telecom behemoth AT&T, Inc. T plans to woo business customers with Small Site – its latest Wi-Fi solution. The new solution is designed to bring easy deployment, convenience and cost-effective Wi-Fi connectivity to small businesses.

Interestingly, the carrier will provide businesses with self-installed access points thereby allowing them to furnish free public Wi-Fi to their customers, which is distinct from their own internal Wi-Fi offering. This would help businesses to keep their in-house Wi-Fi traffic vastly protected and separate.

The Small Site solution is thus ideal for professional offices, restaurants and retail shops who are eager to provide branded Wi-Fi for public usage. This would encourage businesses to interact more with their customers on their social channels.

AT&T Wi-Fi – Small Site runs on the businesses' existing connections and needs speeds of at least 6 Mbps. Moreover, the new solution will be accessible as part of AT&T’s All for Less bundles targeted at small businesses.

Notably, large telecom operators are eyeing the small and mid-sized business (SMB) service market as they have much more room for growth than their larger counterparts.

Earlier this month, AT&T inked an exclusive deal with Microsoft Corp. MSFT to bundle the latter’s office services with AT&T devices. The new solution, AT&T Mobile Office Suite, would help to improve productivity for small and mid-sized businesses.

Recently, the fourth-largest national telecom company in the U.S. – T-Mobile US, Inc. TMUS – unveiled its Un-carrier 9.0 initiative, with the aim of revolutionizing the business market. With its new plan, the carrier seeks to provide business customers with transparent pricing and additional benefits for businesses of all sizes.

Sprint Corp. S on its part recently launched a new platform, Workplace-as-a-Service, designed to simplify enterprise communications for business customers.

And yet, AT&T has for long dominated the lucrative business market segment. With its latest solution, AT&T will meet the ever-increasing demand for Wi-Fi as staying connected is the new-age mantra.

AT&T currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
