Ford Produces 5 Million Vehicles with EcoBoost

Ford Motor Co. F announced that last week it has produced its 5-millionth vehicle with a Ford EcoBoost engine at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, MI. The vehicle that marked the milestone was a Ford Focus, featuring a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine.

In 2009, Ford had launched the EcoBoost engine in Ford Taurus SHO, which featured a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. In 2009, the automaker produced 14,439 EcoBoost engines. In 2010, Ford produced 62,704 vehicles with this technology. In Oct 2013, Ford celebrated the production of its 2-millionth EcoBoost engine at the Louisville plant.

2015 is expected to be a very successful year for Ford. Alongside producing the 5-millionth vehicle with a Ford EcoBoost engine, this year the automaker will also offer its customers the opportunity to select EcoBoost-equipped engines on 100% of its passenger vehicles sold in the U.S. The EcoBoost technology is available in all regions where the company sells its vehicles.

Ford’s EcoBoost is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine. The engine has received many awards due to its innovation and efficiency. Ford also offers 1.5-liter, 1.6-liter, 2.0-liter and 2.3-liter four-cylinder engines, and the powerful 2.7-liter and 3.5-liter V6 engines. Ford now produces 200,000 EcoBoost engines per month, globally.

The Ford Fusion, Escape and F-150 are Ford’s best-selling vehicles in the U.S. The new 2015 Ford Focus offers the most efficient configuration. The 2015 Focus SFE, featuring a 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, offers 42 mpg on highway. It also features innovative technology like lane-keeping system, active park assist and standard rearview camera.

Ford currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
