Leading telecom company AT&T Inc. (T) is now boosting its Local Wireless Network for covering the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. The company is enhancing network capacity at Balloon Fiesta Park to help its customers have a great wireless experience therein.
AT&T has deployed a Cell on Wheels (COW) facility to serve anticipated rise in demand from a high concentration of smartphone users in Albuquerque. The new arrangement will help improve reliability and data speeds in the course of the event which runs from Oct 4 through Oct 12.
AT&T’s new enhancement initiatives, though temporarily dedicated for the event, are considered a part of the company’s efforts to offer superior wireless experience during special events such as the International Balloon Fiesta. We believe the deployment will serve as a promotion of the company’s already established network in the region and help garner more customers under its wing. In addition, AT&T also offers a competitive advantage against rivals like Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) and Sprint Corporation (S).
The carrier had successfully launched its 4G LTE network in Albuquerque in Dec 2012, offering mobile Internet speeds 10 times faster than 3G. AT&T is looking for opportunities to improve its growth profile through a number of strategic initiatives and 4G remains at the core of all its strategic moves. Expanding business in the 4G sphere and covering a substantial part of its 3G population remains AT&T’s current focus.
