Most hoteliers across the globe are trying to augment guest satisfaction and gain a better foothold in the industry. With the increasing demand for mass market brands, Wyndham Worldwide Corporation (WYN) recently announced that it has entered into a management agreement for the opening of Wyndham Amboseli Golf Resort and Spa in Africa. This will mark the opening of the first upscale Wyndham Hotels and Resorts property in the region.
The hotel, scheduled to open in 2017, will be the second hotel in Africa under this brand, followed by the opening of the Ramada hotel in Nairobi at the end of 2014. This upscale property features a 290 room resort, a golf course, a conference center, a fitness center, spa and other such amenities. The hotel is located close to the Amboseli National Park in Kenya and offers scenic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding nature reserves.
Wyndham is a renowned hospitality company, engaged in managing and franchising an extensive portfolio of lodging facilities of various sizes and scale under 20 brands. Wyndham is consistently trying to expand its presence worldwide. A significant portion of the company’s properties are situated outside the U.S. The latest addition is in line with Wyndham's long-term strategy to expand in the Middle East and African markets and is the sixth Wyndham Hotels and Resorts property under development in the region.
The operating environment in the international market is better than the domestic market, driving hoteliers to increase their market share globally. As a result, other hoteliers like Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. (HOT), Marriott International, Inc. (MAR) and Hyatt Hotels Corporation (H) are also busy expanding their footprint in the international market.
